Why is it asking for WEP if i have WAP wireless security?

I want to connect a desktop to wireless. I have the network set up already with an xbox and a lap top on it that are hard wired in. It has WAP security and NO Mac address filtering. When i try to connect with my desktop it is asking me for a WEP key. This doesnt make sense. Since the security is WAP and not WEP … where is the key it is asking for?

      The default wep settings it has in the wireless drivers then delete all wireless or your desktop wireless connections that are save in that.

      WPA?

      WPA is WEP with Temporal Key Integrity Protocol added to it. Not very secure.

      WPA2 is a completely different encryption scheme that can utilize multiple authentication methods and algorithms. It requires specific hardware support.
